15th October 2013
I am in a group with Andy Davis and Sam Cattee. We couldn't decide whose short film idea to pick from so together we all thought of a new one called "The Life of a Hand".
"The Life of a Hands" says it all really, it's about following the journey of what hands get up to in their life for example we will have hands doing yoga, playing football, going swimming and getting mugged by a chav hand.
16th October 2013
Today me and Andy started working on the type of shots and how we want the short film to be. At first we didn't now if all the shots would be close ups because our characters are hands which means the camera has to be close up. We decided that we would assume that the hands were people and have the different types of distance shots as if they were real people.
17th October 2013
Today we started the storyboard. We didn't really have a narrative for "The Life of Hands" at first it was basically just hands doing human activities. But then we decided on a hand love story where the male hand meets the female hand in a club and dance together. This all goes wrong when a chav hand gets jealous and stabs the male hand with a paper cut. When we had an idea of how we wanted the narrative we started writing the location, shot distance, camera movement, sound and editing we wanted on the shots on the storyboard. We completed all the writing on the storyboard but still need to do the drawing.
18th October 2013
Today we finished the storyboard by drawing the pictures. After this we went location scouting and took pictures of locations we are going to use in our short film. The locations we're using is a grassy area and W16 and completed the location sheet.
21st October 2013
Today we sorted out the props we need for our short film and who gets what. We also got the disco and sand music for the short film and completed the script to start filming tomorrow.
22nd October 2013
Today we went location hunting and took a few pictures of where we're going to shoot and practiced some of the shots through the camera from our storyboard to see what they would look like at the location we chose.
23rd October 2013
Today we started filming. We filmed most of the shots with the chav hands in the disco but still haven't finished it because we we're missing a hand character. So we will finish filming and start editing when we get back from half term.
5th November 2013
Today we finished filming all the shots needed and uploaded it all to the computer ready for editing next lesson.
6th November 2013
Today we started editing by putting the clips in order and cutting the different shots down to make the short film 1 minute 30 seconds or less and cropping some of the clips to make them fit and look better.
7th November 2013
We continued editing and once finished we went to record some of the dialogue for the hand characters in the music studio.
11th November 2013
Today we finished getting the audio needed for our short film and uploaded them to the video in Premiere Pro. Once uploaded we cut the audio down to what we wanted and dragged it onto the timeline where the audio needs to be.
12th November 2013
We finished recording and editing today and imported the video onto YouTube. I then took pictures of the pre-production sheets and need to upload them to my blog.
